The U.S. Supreme Court denied Reed's petition for writ of certiorari requesting review of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal's decision in the remanded appeal of his civil rights challenge to Texas' DNA testing statute.  On March 25, 2026, Reed's counsel filed a 12th post-conviction writ in the Bastrop District Court.

Reed filed a subsequent writ in the District Court of Bastrop County.  The writ rehashes much of Reed's 2021 "relationship" evidence and claims to have "new witnesses" to support Reed's relationship claims, as well as "new evidence" to statements by Fennell regarding knowledge of the "relationship" between Reed and Stacey and his alleged intent to kill Stacey.  This writ will likely be dismissed as an abuse of the writ, as it is substantially the same as the 2021 writ that was dismissed as an abuse of the writ in 2023.  A link to the new writ is below.
