On March 23, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court denied Reed's petition for writ of certiorari requesting review of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal's decision in the remanded appeal of his civil rights challenge to Texas' DNA testing statute.  On March 25, 2026, Reed's counsel filed a 12th post-conviction writ in the Bastrop District Court.
